State-wide cleanliness drive conducted sucessfully

Dimapur, Aug. 12 (EMN): As part of the state-wide social work, administrations of various district headquarters and sub-divisions successfully conducted the social work on August 11 by cleaning government offices and town areas. Kohima: In Kohima, district administration along with the Kohima municipal council (KMC) carried out the social work in and around the town including all the 19 wards by involving various government departments, ward panchayats and other organisations.

The district administration led by deputy commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, inspected the social work in and around the town. The deputy commissioner acknowledged all the government departments, KMC, AYO and ward panchayats for extending their cooperation and support in the social work. He also acknowledged the Nagaland Contractor Suppliers Union (NCSU) for assisting in the social work by providing seven dumpers and five JCBs and other logistics and making it a success.

Medziphema: In Medziphema, the social work began at 7 am with the participation of all the government departments, public organisations and individuals. Participants have cleared the drainage, foliage and dirt in the ward and colonies assisted by the Gaon Buras and Dobashis. Offices were also cleaned by the staff of departments. Mini trucks of Medziphema town council helped in disposing the garbage.

Peren: All villages and towns in Peren district conducted mass social work. The programme was organised as directed by the state government to keep the district clean. During the mass social work, all the residents both government servants and general public participated.

Kiphire: People in Kiphire district actively participated in the mass social work by cleaning their respective office premises and private residences. Guest house colony in Kiphire town had also actively involved in the mass social work by collecting the garbage on the road side and disposing them off.

Zunheboto: Mass social work was successfully conducted in Zunheboto district under the supervision of district administration. The public have participated by cleaning their colonies and surroundings while the government staff in the district also cleaned their respective office premises.

Wokha: In Wokha, government employees and public have participated in the social work in large number conducted under the supervision of the district administration led by deputy commissioner (DC), Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon. The DC visited almost all the offices, colleges, schools, colonies and wards to monitor the progress of the work.

The main objective of the social work was to clear the drainages, foliage for a clean Wokha. Mechanical department and PWD (R&B) provided one JCB, while Wokha town council provided dumper trucks and pick-up, and both PHED and DEF Wokha provided trucks to dispose off the waste materials.

Students from schools and colleges took part in cleaning their respective premises and roads leading to their institutions. Police and SDRF assisted the department of fisheries and aquatic resources in cleaning and beautification of Tsumang Lake. Garbage pickup spots were identified at different locations in all colonies.

Meanwhile, DC Wokha has thanked all government employees, public, GBs, NGOs and all concerned involved in the mass social work by turning up in large number despite incessant rain. He appealed to all the public to discourage use of plastic bags and not to throw plastic materials as it blogs the drainage system.

The DC also stated with the declaration of 2018 as ‘Year of cleanliness’ on the theme “Clean Wokha-Beautiful Wokha,” cleanliness drive/ social work would to be conducted from time to time in the days to come.

Bhandari: Bhandari sub-division conducted a mass social work under the supervision of ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang. During the social work, blocked roadside drainages, water logged areas and minor landslides within the town were cleared by the public.

Besides filling up potholes and clearing jungle along the road, garbage disposal in the colonies were also carried out. Head of offices along with GBs were assigned with specific areas to supervise the work.
