State to observe yearlong birth centenary of Dr. T Ao

Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): The yearlong observation of the birth centenary of Dr. T Ao in Nagaland will be inaugurated on Jan. 28 at the Raj Bhavan at Kohima town with Governor PB Acharya as the chief guest of the event. A press release on Fri. issued by the Raj Bhavan informed.
“The inaugural programme marking the birth centenary of Dr. T Ao will be held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on 28th January 2018 with the governor of Nagaland, Shri PB Acharya as the chief guest,” Raj Bhavan stated.
With preparations for the observation on, Governor PB Acharya met with the state-level committee on Friday for the commemoration of the birth centenary and to review the yearlong schedule of activities.
“Governor Acharya met with the state level committee for commemoration of the 100th birth anniversary of Lt. Dr. T Ao at Raj Bhavan on 19th January 2018. He reviewed the calendar activities for the year-long celebrations which include unveiling of Dr. T Ao portrait at Raj Bhavan, releasing of commemorative postage stamp and junior football tournament to be held in all districts of the state. The department of Health & Family Welfare and Youth Resources & Sports will visit institutions to highlight the importance and benefits of sports,” it stated.
The press release informed that there will an inter-district football tournament, dedication of a foundation stone for a Dr. T Ao sports academy and a Dr. T Ao stadium; release of a documentary and a coffee table book as part of the celebrations.
During the review on Fri. the governor is stated to have said that the current principals of Dr. T Ao’s alma maters be invited to the programme. He desired that the celebrations be celebrated across the country and not only in the state.
