State to observe NVD

Dimapur, Jan 23: Nagaland, alongwith the rest of the country, will observe the National Voters’ Day (NVD) on January 25 to register the newly eligible young (18+) in the electoral roll and also to promote electoral participation.
In this regard all the district administrations, government offices throughout the State are directed to organise programme and to take the “Pledge” in their respective offices.
Schools and educational institutions are requested to organise National Voters’ Day for infusion of democratic values by organising debates, declamations, mock polls, drawing and quiz competitions on the theme of democracy and electoral participation.
On the theme “Empowering young and future voters,” a function to observe the 7th National Voters’ Day 2017 will be held on January 25 at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima, at 11 AM. The State chief secretary Pankaj Kumar will be the chief guest.
Other speakers in the programme included Lithrongla G Chishi, Secretary of Cooperation & Director ATI; N Moa Aier, CEO (officiating); Vilokali Zhimomi, Miss Nagaland 2016 and State Icon (SVEEP); and Khekugha Sema, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer.
In a separate statement, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, directed various administrative headquarters under Kohina district to observe the 7th National Voters Day (NVD) on January 25 at 11 a.m.
The DC also informed all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to attend the NVD function in their respective Assembly Constituency/ administrative headquarters.
