State to observe National Voters’ Day on January 25

Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): State will observe the 10th National Voters’ Day on January 25 on the theme “Electoral literacy for stronger democracy.”

To commemorate the national voters’ day, a programme would be conducted at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, with the chief secretary Temjen Toy as the chief guest.

According to a DIPR report, welcome address would be presented by the deputy commissioner and district election officer, Thejawelie Gregory. Perspective and background of the programme and presentation of EPICs and NVD badges to the new voters would be given away by the chief electoral officer, Kohima, Abhijit Sinha.

Skit would be presented by Dreamz Unlimited, while a cultural song would be presented by Cultural Promotion Society, Kohima, and solo/duet by Virie.

Message of the chief election commissioner would be read by the joint chief electoral officer, Kohima, Ruokuovituo Khezhie. NVD pledge would be administered by the chief guest and vote of thanks by additional CEO Nagaland, N Moa Jamir.

Meanwhile, Phek district would also observe the national voters’ day on January 25 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office, Phek, at 11 am.

The district election officer and deputy commissioner, Phek, Sachin Jaiswal has requested all the newly enrolled electors, head of departments, political parties, NGOs, BLOs, ward chairmen and GBs to attend the function.
