Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): A team comprising of officials from Agriculture, Fishery and Aquatic Resources and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry departments headed by the Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y Kikheto Sema, undertook a week-long study tour to Vietnam from November 23 to the 28th.

A DIPR report stated that the study tour was undertaken with the primary objective of learning the successful agriculture and allied practices including agro-eco tourism in sub-urban and rural areas in Vietnam. The team visited the urban organic farm in Hanoi and interacted with the farmers regarding the marketing of the products.

The team also had a meeting with the dean and officials of Da Nang University, where they were apprised of the research and development activities. It stated that the team experienced first-hand knowledge on popular agro eco-tourism of TraQue vegetable village and tea estate at Hoi An and observed various management aspects of the enterprises.

The team observed that the size of the farm does not determine the economy of a farm but rather intensive agriculture with proper scientific management of inputs with diverse crops, which would promote a sustainable enterprise ultimately leading to settled farming.
