IRCSN to observe World Red Cross Day
Along with the rest of the world the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch will be observing the World Red Cross day under the theme “My Red Cross Story” at the conference hall Red Cross Complex Kohima on May 8. Minister for School Education, CM Chang will grace the occasion as chief guest and chairperson IRCS Nagaland State Branch, Abeni TCK will preside over the function. Other highlights of the programme includes invocation prayer by member, MC IRCSN, Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, opening song by JRC Unit, St John School, Kohima, welcome address by member, MC IRCSN, CR Lotha, prize distribution, special song by School of Nursing, NHAK and vote of thanks by general secretary, IRCSN, Dr Kepelhusie Terhüja.
Three high schools in Mkg upgraded
Nagaland Government has upgraded NI Jamir High School, Mokokchung, Mangkolemba Government High School and Tuli Government High School to Higher Secondary Schools and the classes will run from the current academic session. This was informed by Deputy District Education Officer, Rowainla in the meeting of the Mokokchung DPDB held on May 7. The Deputy District Education Officer also informed that NI Jamir School will offer Arts and Commerce while Mangkolemba and Tuli will offer Arts from the current academic session. With this, hundreds of students who could not afford to pursue their post matric studies would avail opportunity to pursue their studies at their door step, she added.
Ura Academy 75th anniv pre-celebration
Ura Academy (1939-2014) 75th Anniversary Pre-celebration will be held on May 10, at 3 pm at venue Ura Academy, Kohima. Daso Paphino, chairman, organising committee, will chair the programme and Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, president, Ura Academy, shall exhort and deliberate the highlights of the jubilee celebration. The organizing committee has invited all concerned leaders and well wishers to attend the celebration. There will be a photo session for all the Jubilee Sub-Committee(s), and therefore all the members of various committees are requested to come prepared. The grand celebration will be held on May 29 – 30,, a press note from jubilee publicity committee stated.WASU felicitation-cum seminar
The Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) will be organizing a felicitation-cum-career guidance seminar on May 10 at APO Hall, Kohima at 10 am. In a release, WASU informed that PHED chief engineer, Kevisekho Kruse will grace the programme as the chief guest while School Education principal director, Kesonyü Yhome will be the resource person. All members have been requested to attend the programme.
WASU, SASU support NSSATA
The Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) and the Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) have expressed their support for the demand of the Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) regarding non-payment of the latter’s salaries. In a statement jointly endorsed by the WASU president Kedoroko Casavi and SASU president Vilboto Hibo, the student organizations assured support to the genuine demand of the NSSATA and urged upon the responsible authorities to fulfill the demand at the earliest so that the teachers may resume their duties. The unions also appealed to the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Angami Students’ Union to intervene into the issue immediately so that it may be resolved at the earliest.
USSC plea to HoDs in Kiphire
Having concerned about developmental activities and hardship faced by the general public at Kiphire HQ, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has appealed all the head of departments and the staffs to be regular in their service for the welfare of people.
NNP+ mourns colleague’s demise
The Network of Naga People Living with HIV/AIDS (NNP+) Nagaland has conveyed its deepest condolences to the family members and near ones of late David Khing who passed away on May 6. His association with the NNP+ and the services he rendered to the organisation shall always be remembered. He has served with the NNP+ in the capacity as CRP (ASLP Project -SAATHII) and also as Program Manager (Vihaan Programme) in 2013, pa press note issued by NNP+ president Naomi Semy, stated.
CGU fetes students
The Chumukedima Gorkha Union has congratulated the Gorkha students of Nagaland on their successful results in their recent HSLC and HSSLC examination result 2014. In a press release, Prakash Chetri, vice-president of union has also extended best wishes to all the passed students in their future endeavours
