DMC directs traders
The Dimapur Municipal Council has stated that many shop-keepers/business establishment, hostels, training institute, Pvt. nursing home/clinic including physician/doctors’ chamber, bank, insurance companies within the DMC jurisdiction are carrying out their business without obtaining/renewing DMC Trade licence. Stating that it is illegal and against the norms as per the provisions under Section 396 of Nagaland Municipal Act 2001, the DMC has once again directed all concerned to obtain/renew their Trade licence from DMC office immediately without further delay.
Training rehearsal of counting votes
Assistant Election Officer Kohima, R Mhathung Ngullie has informed that all the Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistant and Micro Observer appointed for counting votes for the 16th Lok Sabha Election under Kohima district to attend training/rehearsal at the DC’s Conference Hall at 2 p.m. on May 15.Villages for ‘one govt, one tax’
The GBs, chairmen and elders of Urra Area Villages’ Union (VAVU) which comprises of 12 villages namely- Toulazouma, Seluophe, Singrijan, Khopanala, Diezephe, Tsithrongse, Murise, Urra, Bade, Razhaphe, Razhaphe Basa and Kiyeto, held a meeting at union hall on May 9 and unanimously reaffirmed to uphold the general meeting resolution to support the decision of ACAUT movement of ‘One Government One Tax’. Therefore, the union has appealed all its member villages not to entertain any unreasonable taxation and to abide by the resolution ‘One Government, One Tax’.
AR apprehends NSCN (IM) cadre
Based on specific information about the presence of an NSCN (IM) cadre with illegal weapons in a house in general area Lhoto Colony, Ganesh Nagar, troops of 29 Assam Rifles and 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 6 Sector AR launched a search operation and recovered one .25 Pistol, one .22 Pump Action Rifle and assorted ammunition were recovered. The owner of the house one K Kihovi Awomi, (39) who revealed himself that he is working as a Tatar in NSCN(IM) was apprehended. The individual was handed over to Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
Aotsakilimi theological fellowship formed
The Theological fellowship of Aotsakilimi village “Aotsakilimi Theology Kiphimi Kuposhukulu” (ATKK) was formed on May 8 in a joint meeting of its members working in different churches and those pursing theological education in different seminaries across the nation. The ATKK has 33 members and has elected the office bearers for the term 2014-16 headed by Nikhuyi Achumi, pastor, Valley View Baptist Church as president; Khezheto Achumi, associate pastor, Thilixu Baptist Church – secretary; Atoli Achumi, Women Leader, NCRC Doyapur Road – treasurer and Akuto Achumi, assistant pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima as information secretary while executives of Aotsakilimi Union Dimapur, Kohima, and Zunnheboto were made as advisors. The ATKK is inter-denominational in nature and will congregate annually for fellowship, a press release stated.
NNC/FGN to observe ‘Plebiscite Day’
It is hereby formally informed to all the National workers and fellow countrymen that  The NNC/FGN will observe the 64th Naga Voluntary Plebiscite Day as usual on 16th May at 10 a.m. at Chedema Peace Camp, Angami Region, Nagaland. Joint secretary, NNC, Acüyi Vadeo has through a press release, urged all the NNC/FGN workers and Nagas to participate in the function. The release has also appealed to those ‘national workers and countrymen’ who are unable to participate in the said function to observe this historic day of the nation to ‘pay even a short prayer too as a true Naga’ in their own convenient time and place.
 Charitable Trust Brothers raises funds
The Charitable Trust Brothers along with the stewards undertook a fund raise drive from well-wishers by selling newspapers at Kiphire town on May 9 under the theme ‘You Can Help’. The fund drive is been initiated in aid of sponsoring two needy students’ to be accommodate at two different school hostels namely Cambridge Hostel and Trinity Home after summer holidays of current academic year. According to a press release, the CTB which was formed in the year 2012 has been doing various charity works towards the downtrodden and needy. Meanwhile, the CTB appreciates all the well wishers and philanthropist for the good gesture shown towards the CTB by buying newspapers.
NDMSA lauds chief secretary
The Nagaland Directorate Ministerial Service Association (NDMSA) has expressed gratitude to Ms Banuo Z Jamir, Chief Secretary for constituting a 7-member High Power Committee (HPC) vide Notification NO. AR-8/19/84 Dated 05-05-2014 under the chairmanship of Rajiv Bansal, principal secretary, Youth Resources & Sports to examine various grievance and demands of the Nagaland Directorate Ministerial Staff Association (NDMSA). A press release, Botovi Sema and Atsang, NDMSA president and general secretary respectively, said this gesture shows the government sincerity towards the association and further expressed hope that the High Power Committee (HPC) would thoroughly examine the genuine grievances and demands of the association and endorse with favourable recommendations to the respective authorities for consideration. The association also appealed to all the Head of Departments (HoDs) to submit the guidelines issued by the P & AR Department on the matter at the earliest.
Phek farmers’ club acknowledges
The Phek Farmers’ Club (PFC) has expressed gratitude to the District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Phek for timely distribution of the required seedlings to the farmers. PFC president Chekhunieyi Vero stated that such gesture has been received by the farmers, and stated that they are now expecting a good harvest this year.
LFA to organize advocacy programme
Legislative Forum on AIDS (LFA-Nagaland) has announced to organise an advocacy programme on HIV/AIDS at VK town in Zunheboto and Lotsu village in Wokha on May 14. MLA Khekaho Assumi will be the guest speaker at VK town while MLA and chairman NSMDC, N Thomas Lotha, will be the guest speaker at Lotsu village, a press release issued by state consultant (UNAIDS), Dr Vinito L Chishi said.
Felicitation for topper from govt school
All the Kohima DPDB members have been informed that the monthly meeting cum felicitation programme of the 6th HSLC examination topper 2014 from government schools under Kohima district will be held on May 15 at 12:30 noon at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima. Principal Director, School Education, Kesonyu Yhome will be the chief guest on the occasion. Therefore all the members have been requested to attend without fail.
CSU to felicitate its students
The Chiechama Students’ Union will hold its 16th HSLC felicitation programme on May 24 at APO Hall.
