State observes World Contraception Day

FPA India Nagaland Branch and North East Network NEN observes World Contraception Day 2019
Members of FPA India Nagaland Branch and North East Network (NEN) on the occasion of World Contraception Day on September 26 in Kohima.

Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): Nagaland branch of the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), in collaboration with North East Network (NEN) observed the World Contraception Day with the women workers of informal sector on September 26 on the theme ‘It’s your life, It’s your responsibility’ at the premises of Reproductive Health and Family Planning (RHFPC), Kohima.
The programme was organised to enhance girls and women’s knowledge on the importance of family planning, contraceptives method and reproductive health.

An update from FPAI on Thursday stated that significance of the day was delivered by Dolly Wotsa, NEN programme associate, while the topic on modern contraceptives method was explained to the women by Khrieketunuo Kire, FPAI staff nurse.

Ville Rhetso, FPAI counsellor, spoke on reproductive health and menstrual hygiene management. The resource person also clarified on myths and misconception pertaining to contraceptives method and encouraged the participants to choose, adopt, and make informed choices of their own reproductive health.

World Contraception Day is celebrated on September 26 every year. The annual worldwide campaign centres around a vision where every pregnancy is wanted. Launched in 2007, WCD’s mission is to improve awareness of contraception and to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health.

World Contraception Day mission is to spread the word and raise awareness about contraception and safe sex. It aims at helping new adults to make informed decisions until every pregnancy in the world is a planned one.
