State level Kala Utsav 2024-25 held in Kohima

DIMAPUR — Samagra Shiksha Nagaland organised a state-level Kala Utsav on Thursday at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Kohima.

Kala Utsav, a flagship programme of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, aims to foster and showcase the artistic talent of the student of secondary stage.

According to a press release, the annual event provides a platform for students to explore and celebrate arts and cultural diversity at various levels—school, district, state and national.

Speaking on the occasion, Wonthungo Tsopoe, director of School Education, discussed the cultural values that students should imbibe. State mission director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Temsunaro Aier, exhorted the students and spoke about how the Kala Utsav initiative is an important platform to display the rich heritage and culture of Nagaland.

Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, and DEO Kohima attended the programme, which featured participation from district winners in various competitions.

The winners included Government High School Khomi for tribal folk vocal music, Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie for tribal folk dance, NI Jamir from Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung for traditional instrumental music, Moanaro from Government Higher Secondary School Diphupar-A, Dimapur for 2D visual art, P Chingmei Konyak from Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur for mono act, and Leu Tsuzuh and Dzuzuh-o Venuh from Government Higher Secondary School, Phek, for traditional storytelling.

It was mentioned that the winners will represent the state at the National Level Kala Utsav 2024 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in January 2025.
