The PPA was signed at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, in the presence of Nagaland Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye, the Department of Power informed in a press release.
The agreement is for purchase of power from the 10MW biomass power plant, which will be developed by Hutah Industries, on independent power producers (IPP) mode, the release stated.
The Power minister in his address underscored the need to develop power generation in the state to meet the power demand as well as to promote industrial activities.
Impressing upon the need for internal power generation so as to reduce import of power, Kenye lauded Hutah Industries for taking up such an initiative.
He also suggested that since the project is bamboo-fired, necessary tie up with Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) can also be explored.
Such initiatives will also stimulate economic growth and local employment, he added.

The CEO said that the firm has already acquired 1500 acre of land on lease for 25 years.
Pandit also informed that the project will be completed within 24 months from the date of signing the PPA. He further affirmed that the project is a collective commitment to harness renewable energy and shape a more sustainable future for the state of Nagaland.
Engineer-in-Chief (Power), Moa Aier, disclosed that though several PPAs were earlier signed by the Power department, but unfortunately the IPPs were not showing progress in the field.
He expressed hope that the present PPA with Hutah Industries will be a trend setter for a new beginning of successful projects.
