State Government’s Call for Consultation on Naga Political Issue a Step Forward
This is to appreciate the state government for inviting Naga civil society organisations (CSOs) and tribal organisation leaders for consultation on the Naga political issue from time to time. The present peaceful atmosphere in Nagaland is conducive to take a collective decision, where thoughts of every section of the people can be included for a fruitful and realistic resolution. In this, I am of the opinion that the state government should give enough time to the CSOs and the tribal organisations to have a thorough deliberation with their people and present the factual scenario in such a vital platform for discussion on the Naga political issue. In fact, our national workers representatives should also be invited to such a discourse so that a collective and consensus decision is arrived at in resolving the issues pragmatically. This platform initiated by the state government is so imperative that the entire citizens should be taken into confidence for a fruitful discussion and resolution which will be an asset for the government to carry forward as a facilitator. Without consulting the people, any leader will not be able to represent the people.
The Naga political objectives is for Naga sovereignty which is known to all the Nagas, young and old, and everyone has his/her opinion to say in determining the future of the Nagas. It will be painful for the future generations if any wrong decision is taken today, succumbing to the pressure of the adversary and surrendering the right of the Nagas. Nagas’ aspiration is not to live under the domain of any foreign control but rather to live as a free and separate people. It is a concern that the contemporary reality of the present situation (has been) created by the Indian government with their policy of divide and rule within the Naga society, to which the Indian government has taken full advantage of subjugating the Naga rights.
There is chaos and confusion in the Naga society because of the adversary’s design. Had the Nagas concentrate on our aspirations, the motives of our enemy can be thwarted, but our greed for power and money has blinded us and made us inclined to our enemy’s design. Today, we are the servants of our enemy. A call from the state government for consultation on the Naga political issue is a step forward to create unanimity for the right of the Nagas. It is enormously important to guard the discussion so that it does not lead us astray into the pond of our enemy.
