State Fitness Challenge held in Medziphema

KOHIMA — With the aim of promoting health, fitness, and sportsmanship among citizens and athletes, a ‘State Fitness Challenge’ was held on June 22 at the City Centre in Chümoukedima.

Organised by Alpha Iron Gym in collaboration with Naga Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA), Powerlifting Team, and Naga Arm Benders, the event showcased athletes from across Nagaland competing in various fitness disciplines, including powerlifting, CrossFit, best athletic physique, and arm wrestling.

In the powerlifting category for men above 80 kg, Rukukhoto Khusoh emerged as the champion, with Kevisezo Kire and Mintu Mech securing the first and second runners-up positions, respectively.

In the below 80 kg category, Zhopao Movi claimed the title, while Bijay Meitei and Rohan Sen finished as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the women’s open weight category for powerlifting, Nengpichong Saum emerged as the champion, with Hantsula and Sushmita Hoshi coming in as first and second runners-up, respectively.

For men’s arm wrestling above 65 kg, Avilie Zuyie emerged as the champion, while Thangboilal Saum and Abishek Pradhan secured the first and second positions, respectively.

In the below 65 kg category, Vecito emerged as the champion, with Megovisie Nakhro and Aryan Bora finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the left open weight category, Vethozo Lohe emerged as the champion, with Puloto Chishi and Thangboilal Saum finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the women’s open weight category (right and left), Vikehenuo Josephine Zumvü emerged as the champion, with Velhoulo Koza and Kezevino Seyie finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the men’s CrossFit category, Tseilhulie Vielie emerged as the champion, with Henkup C Buchem and Luvoto Rhakho finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the women’s category, Manchen emerged as the winner, with Hatdeiphal and Vitseino Meyase coming in as first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the best athletic physique for men, Laltinhao Hangsing emerged as the champion, with Talimoa Jamir and Robin Pegu finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.

A total of 90 athletes from the state competed in the event.

Earlier, Ruopfuvisie Chuzho, president of SFC, highlighted the importance of health and wellness in improving the quality of life for individuals and communities. Abe Mero attended the event as the guest speaker, encouraging participants to strive for excellence in their fitness journey.
