Kohima, Nov. 5 (EMN): The department of Agriculture met to discuss matters concerning the development of Nagaland state agriculture portal (SAP) that is part of the national e-governance plan in agriculture (NeGPA), at the directorate’s conference hall, on Nov. 4 in Kohima.

Speaking about the Nagaland state agriculture portal, additional director for Agriculture-II, S Kivikhu Achumi said it is a platform to create and connect to farmers and farming-based communities with businesses across the globe, all with just a click of a button.

The ultimate goal of the state agriculture portal is to use information technology as a medium to provide for an effective interactive platform for governments and farmer, farmer-to-businesses interface and government to citizens. The exchange of information and access to agriculture services is fast and easy, leading to a sustainable and progressive farming system for the farmers in the state, he said.

Achumi said that the Agriculture department was committed to providing responsive and effective administration and platform for the welfare of the farmers and farming based community through the Nagaland state agriculture portal. It has a vision to create a knowledge-based society through the use of information technology, he said.

The department foresees a scenario wherein farmers, business persons and citizens will be able to access the benefits of Information technology through the state agriculture portal, he added.

Through the state agriculture portal, the officer said, the department is committed to providing better services to farmers, businesses, and even students and citizens through e-governance which is efficient, speedy, simple and cost-effective.

Ramietech Solutions at Kohima was selected to work for operation and management of the state agri-portal.

Further, Achumi said that the state agriculture portal would play a critical role in providing a single access point to government information and services related to the agricultural sector, eliminating the need to navigate multiple web sites and applications.

‘The SAP will allow presenting information, applications and services in a single consolidated browser view, also to provide a secure and individualized view of multiple online resources and interactive services.’

Further, the state agriculture portal will become an interface between the department and farmers and farmers-based community. It is also to attract buyers from across the globe for businesses as this will provide common platform with a single click of a button.

Members of Ramietech presented details about the Nagaland state agriculture portal, explaining the system requirement specifications. They said that the Agriculture department was in need of a robust IT application to enhance its operations and provide value-added services to various stakeholders including farmers.

The department has to align with the NeGPA. The state agriculture portal will cater to the multifarious needs of various stakeholders including farmers, students, government, and other stakeholders.

The chief executive officer of Ramietech Solutions, Kedo Nagi, acknowledged the department of Agriculture and the selection committee for granting the project to Ramietech Solutions.

The system requirement specifications was approved by the department’s coordination team with the website online Nagafarmer.Nagaland.Gov.in

The agriculture portal will be developed and rolled out with the following services: SARS-For research publication; IETC online services for trainees; online scholarship application; KVKF or research and front-line demo publication; agriculture expo online booking of the agriculture expo site for events; agency registration for online registration empanelled dealers of the department and department sponsored AC/BC centres etc.
