State conducts dry run for Covid vaccination

Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): Phek, Mokokchung, Mon, Wokha, and Longleng districts successfully conducted dry run for Covid-19 vaccination on January 8.

The objective of the exercise was to assess the operational feasibility in the use of Co-WIN application in field environment and also to identify the challenges prior to actual implementation.

In Phek, the dry run on Covid-19 vaccination was held at District Hospital Phek, Pfutsero and Meluri community health centres (CHC) and Chizami primary health centre (PHC).

The four model sites were set up as per the operational guidelines given by the health ministry. The session set-up consisted of waiting area, vaccination and observation rooms, hand washing site with separate entry and exit, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, stated on Friday.

It informed that a total of 25 beneficiaries were pre-registered in the dummy portal for each session sites which were successfully uploaded in the portal and four vaccination officers were deployed in the drive.

It added that the dry run exercise was carried out under the guidance of the CMO, Dr. Vibeituonuo Mepfuo, and attended by SDO (C) of Phek, Bhavani, and representatives from the department of Education, Social Welfare and DIPR.

In a similar programme, Mokokchung district conducted a dry run for Covid-19 vaccination at three sites. The exercise was headed by the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, Dr. R Chubala Aier with Dr. Collin as the observer.

Likewise, a dry run exercise in Mon was conducted at District Hospital, Tizit PHC and Aboi CHC.

Following the guidelines, the exercise was conducted at the designated sites by setting up facilities consisting of three rooms — waiting, vaccination and observation. The officials involved in the exercise consisted of five members including vaccinator officer, vaccination officer for verification, mobilising for vaccination, for portal uploading and for observation.

It added that during the exercise, 25 health workers got dummy vaccines at each site.

In Wokha, the Wokha district Covid-19 immunisation committee (WDCIC) conducted a dry run for Covid-19 vaccination at District Hospital Wokha, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) and community health centre (CHC) Sanis on January 8.

It stated that a total of 75 healthcare workers comprising 25 each from the three centres participated in the programme as the first batch beneficiaries. The event was led by ADC Wokha K Mhathung Tsanglao, CMO Wokha Dr. TW Tungoe, MS Wokha Dr. Tumchobeni, district immunisation programme officer Dr. Khelito Zhemomi. State-level observers Dr. Longri Kichu and Dr. Mhecucro Mero were also present during the programme.

A DIPR report stated that the state-level observers, while commenting on the preparedness, expressed satisfaction and also sought active participation of all the line departments, NGOs and stakeholders for the success of the vaccination process.

Also speaking on the occasion, the CMO, Dr. Tungoe, informed that the district had already set up a committee for the vaccination programme. According to him, the vaccination would be conducted in phase manner.

Longleng district also conducted dry run for Covid-19 vaccination at District Hospital, Yachem PHC and Tamlu PHC on Friday. The event was jointly organised by the district administration and Social Welfare department.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Imnameren Phom, DPO (RCH/UIP), delivered guidelines to the healthcare workers and beneficiaries.

An update from the CMO, Longleng, stated a total of 25 beneficiaries were registered beforehand in the dummy portal for each session sites, which were successfully uploaded in the portal. It added that four vaccination officers were deployed in the session site.

The dry run exercises were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Imnameren Phom and Dr. Khyothungo Yanthan, junior surgeon from the District Hospital Longleng.
