DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6

A team of Nagaland unit of BJP unit met Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Wednesday and apprised him about some vital issues pertaining to Nagaland.
The State BJP team was led by its president Dr M Chuba Ao, general secretary Vihoshe James and vice president Er. Senkathung. When the unit expressed its dismay over the UPA government’s complacent attitude towards DoNER and Tribal Ministry of the North Eastern States, Modi assured the visiting team that the NDA will re-strengthen both DoNER and Tribal Ministry in the general interest of the people of the region once it comes back to power at the Centre.
He also assured to look into the issue of Article 371(A) when the team expressed its view that it should be implemented in letter and spirit.
The State BJP team also expressed their view on Naga political issue. It said since former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee recognized the Naga issue as a ‘unique history’, the political solution should also be found in a unique way. To this, Modi said the whole NE region will enjoy peaceful atmosphere and maximum development if NDA is voted to power.
He also informed that a proposal was sent to all the NE Chief Ministers to send 200 women to Gujarat from each NE state for two-year training as woman police whose services could be utilized as tourist police to protect and guide the tourists. As the people of this region are fluent in English, it will be convenient for them to deal with foreign tourists, Modi said, adding that salaries, accommodation and other perks will be borne by the Gujarat government. Through this programme, it will also promote tourism industry between NE states and Gujarat, he stated.
The Nagaland BJP team will also be visiting Barmer in Rajasthan to study the concept and the activities of oil exploration there.
