Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): State BJP team comprising of 86 party legislators and party officials, frontal presidents, parliament committee members, core committee members, national council member have attended a two-day national convention of the party on January 11 and 12 at Ram Lilla Ground, New Delhi.
The state team was led by P Paiwang Konyak, minister of transport and civil aviation, state BJP president and minister of higher and technical education Temjen Imna Along, and the state deputy chief minister Y Patton.
A press release issued by the state BJP general secretary, Jaangsillung Gonmei, stated that more than 12,000 including union and state ministers, MPs, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers, MLAs, and the party’s rank and file attended the convention.
It stated that the convention commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony led jointly by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national BJP president Amit Shah, former national BJP presidents LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.
It stated that Amit Shah, in his presidential address, highlighted the progress of the party during his term and the prospects and challenges that lie ahead for the party and the nation.
All the union ministers of the cabinet committee including Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh addressed the convention. From the North East, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam minister of finance and NEDA convenor, addressed the convention highlighting various aspects of the policies pertaining to the North eastern states.
On the second and final day, Prime Minister Modi gave the valedictory address where he dwelt in detail several important issues that were addressed by the party’s government in the last few years.
The national convention passed three resolutions on political, agriculture and welfare of the poor and concluded with a National Anthem.
After the convention, a meeting was held on the preparation for the forth coming Parliamentary elections, which was attended by all the state presidents, general secretaries and organisations in-charge.
Nagaland was represented by the state president Temjen Imna Along, minister of higher and technical education; state secretary (Org) Ananta Mishra; state general secretaries Jaangsillung Gonmei and Kavili Achumi.
Prime Minister Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, and national general secretary (org) Ramlal addressed and interacted with the members and laid out the programmes to be implemented.
