State BJP eyes adding 6+ crore members soon

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he membership drive of the Nagaland unit of BJP is traversing the districts of Mon, Longleng, Tuensang and Mokokchung in their hopes of adding to the membership of the party in India which is currently one of the largest political parties in India. A team from the party met with public leaders in Mon town on February 10 as a part of the tour. President of the state unit Dr. M Chuba Ao addressed the gathering.Member of the party Yanghose Sangtam explained the various aspects of the membership drive which he said was according with the guidelines set by the BJP leadership at the center. He claimed that the BJP has a membership of more than ‘5 crore’ and will soon surpass the membership of the Communist Party of China, the world record holder of being the largest political party with 6 crores plus memberships. The BJP targets 10 crore members, he said. Those desiring to enroll in the party membership can dial 18002662020 or contact the nearest BJP office, or the specifically the district conveners of social media or the membership drive committee before the last stipulated date i.e., March 31, when all membership enrollments would closed.
Also, the unit’s members informed, those desiring to know more about the BJP party’s policy, program, or any other information about the organization can log on to the BJP’s page.
The state’ BJP’s president Dr. M Chuba encouraged the gathering to join the party claiming that it was the “next best thing due to the favorable political wave favoring the BJP all over the country including the state.” He also gave a brief account of the month-long political crisis in the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland government. Ao also formally welcomed a former NCP candidate and present state NCP secretary Yaeih Konyak and his followers into the fold of the party.
Convener of the unit’s Social Media, Jaangsillung Gonmei, explained the features of the social media interface for enrollment and called upon the people, particularly the young who have access to the internet to visit and ‘Like’ the page. While this page does not enable directly registering members, it delivers information about the party’s policy and programs through various interactive media and forums to answer queries one may have. ‘It is the portal from which the outside world gets a birds eye view of the BJP and the membership drive efforts and thereby the window to the positive political efforts in the state,’ he said.
Kahoto Chisi, president of the state BJYM also exhorted the youths to enthusiastically work for the party and ‘register in large numbers before March. He assured the public that the BJP ‘will and works for the people of all races and strata and the youths would benefit from the victory of the party in the long run.’
Several public leaders also addressed the public and exhorted the people to work towards development of the district.
