The resolution which was moved by the Chief Minister TR Zeliang in the ongoing 9th session of the 12th NLA today, was adopted in the August House by voice vote, making it the fifth NLA resolution adopted in the on the long running Naga political issue. The House unanimously resolved to reiterate the earlier resolutions of the NLA dated 12 December 1964, 28 August 1970, 16 September 1994 and 18 December 2003, demanding for integration of all contiguous Naga inhabited areas under one administrative umbrella, and to urge upon the government of India to fulfil the same. The House also resolved to urge upon the government of India and the NSCN (K), to resume the ceasefire agreement so as to create a more peaceful and congenial atmosphere for the smooth progress of the Naga political dialogue; to urge upon the government of India to withdraw the declaration of the whole of Nagaland state as a “disturbed area” under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958; to urge upon all Naga Nationalist Groups and civil societies to unite and work for the early settlement of the Naga political issue so that permanent peace reigns in our land; and to urge upon the government of India to expedite the Naga political dialogue and to bring out a formula for an early resolution of the Nagaland political issue.
