Some 40 kilometers away from Mokokchung town, Akhoya village under Changtongya sub-division is all set to host the 69th Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) General Conference from January 18 to the 20th.

In a press conference on Sunday, AKM president Nungdakyanger Ao informed that the 69th AKM General Conference will be held on the theme, “Education in Praxis.”

‘The theme is especially chosen because the AKM opined that simply obtaining a certificate that endows one with a degree should not be the end result, rather students should be able to contribute, in various ways to the community,’ they said.

‘The challenge laid before  the students is whether they can achieve the kind of education that will enable them to be relevant  in terms of intellect, skill and attitude five or ten years into the future to live a balanced life with the contemporary society. If this is achieved, there can be a possible end to the problem of unemployment in our society,’ they asserted.

Approximately 1500 delegates from six ranges and sub units, besides, hundreds of guests will converge in Akhoya to attend five major conference sessions including workshop sessions and business hours.
