St. Peter Parish in Kiphire celebrates Palm Sunday

DIMAPUR — St. Peter’s Parish in Kiphire, one of the biggest parishes under the Diocese of Kohima, celebrated Palm Sunday which was marked with the blessing of palms, procession and reading of the passion.

An update from the parish stated that the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Magh, made elaborate preparation for the communities to celebrate the Holy Week with solemnity as a time of devotion to the ‘Passion of Jesus Christ.’

It stated that Palm Sunday was also celebrated in Horung, Singrep, Ngoromi, Longmatra, Phelungre, Anatongre, Kiusam and Kiphire.

Rev. Fr. C Joseph, while speaking in Horung village, stated that the Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, which is called the ‘Great Week’ because great deeds were done by God during this week.
