Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): The Catholic community at Diezephe, under the patronage of St. Mary’s Church, celebrated their silver jubilee on Nov. 12 in the church’s premise. Updates on Sunday informed that the occasion saw in attendance Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant.
Priests, sisters, brothers and church leaders besides the faithful were present for the Holy Eucharist, the updates informed.
According to the handout to the media, Bishop James congratulated the parish priests and all the members of St. Mary’s Church for ‘faithfully journeying the faith walk.’ He expressed ‘sentiments of appreciation and gratitude’ to a late Vikeduolhou Vincent and his family for the ‘generous and selfless contribution towards the growth’ of St. Mary’s Church at Diezephe.
“In his homily, Bishop James recalled the initial faith journey of the community. He remembered with thanks giving the pioneering pillars of the church. He said that jubilee is a time to thank the Lord for the past blessing, to live the present with passion and to live the future with hope,” the updates stated. He pointed further that the occasion was a time for rededication and renewal. “He exhorted the faithful to be live life of faithfulness and dedication,” the updates stated.
