St. Joseph’s College hosts 8th Ecofest

DIMAPUR — The 8th Ecofest, organised by the department of Economics at St. Joseph’s College (SJU), Jakhama (Autonomous), was held on Saturday at the Indoor Stadium with the theme ‘Sustaining heritage in economic evolution’.

According to a press release, the Ecofest was divided into two sessions. In the first session, the first and second rounds of Mr. and Miss Economist took place.

The judges were Ruku Ltu (Mr. Josephite), Tokilka K Kishepu (Miss Kohima first runners-up and Miss Convergence 2023), and Kelengol Neikha, assistant professor, department of Economics. Following this, a debate competition was held on the topic, “’The economy of Nagaland is growing up to its full potential’.

The second session featured ‘Mad Ads’, ‘Economists Got Talent’, and the final round for Mr. and Miss Economist. Hupeto K Achumi from BA 4th semester clinched the title of Mr. Economist, while Vimesanu Tase from MA second semester secured the Miss Economist title. Vika and Nzanthung were adjudged as Mr. and Miss Personality, respectively.

The winner of the ‘Smartphone Movie’ was team Econ, BA sixth semester. The winners of the debate were students from the fourth and sixth semesters who stood for the motion. The winner of Mad Ads was PG Economics, who presented the advertisement ‘Axone and Lovely’.

Nagamong Sor, a second semester BA student, won the Economics Got Talent contest. Team Eco-Empire (PG) was declared the overall champion of the Ecofest.
