The event was conducted by the English department of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, on September 14.[/caption] Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): English department of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, celebrated its 23rd Literary Fest on September 14 at the college Indoor Stadium. The programme started with an invocation led by sister Tesly, SABS, while Vikishe Jakhalu, president of the department office, delivered the welcome address. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Prof, and HoD, James HK, called upon the students to have critical mind and understand multiplicity of meanings in things around them particularly on the literature they read in their syllabus. The Drama Club of SJC performed a spectacular play entitled “Remitting love,” which was followed by competition hours. The various items of competitions included folk songs, declamation, poetry recitation, poetry composition, sketching and painting, story writing, extempore, debate, duet and dance. The overall championship was won by 3rd Semester ‘F’ team Havard. The other teams were Cambridge, Westminster, Oxford and Andrews. The programme concluded with prize distribution ceremony in which the vote of thanks was proposed by Rhunsito Lims, general secretary. The programme was hosted by Joshua and Yapangmenla.
