St. Joseph University observes Poverty Eradication Day

Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): Commemorating the International Day for Poverty Eradication, the Social Work department of St. Joseph University (SJU) organised a webinar on October 17 on the topic “Poverty eradication through entrepreneurship development” with Paul Lokho, director of Pro Rural, Dimapur, as the speaker.

An update from SJU, Dimapur, stated that the speaker spoke on the economic transformation through entrepreneurship development by particularly emphasising on the sustainable development and poverty eradication. He also highlighted some of the process of poverty eradication through demonstration.

The speaker stressed on the need of participation rather than the need of help. He further shared on the importance of rural economic transformation by citing various examples from Northeast India.

The webinar was moderated by Meijianthaipou Ruangmei, assistant professor of Social Work department, and Raben Patton, III semester MA student of Rural Development, said the invocation prayer.

Assistant professor Rokomenuo Dzuvichu delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was delivered by assistant professor Rokoneisano Medoze and the benediction proposed by Limeka K Jimo, BSW I semester student.
