St. Anthony High takes quiz competition

Kohima, Oct 22 (EMN): The All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) conducted its 1st edition of the ‘state level quiz competition’ on Tuesday in the NBCC Platinum Jubilee Hall in Kohima. The event was sponsored by Trendsetters Publishers, Delhi.

Lirhi Khape and Mhasibeilie Linyű from St. Anthony High School at Tenyiphe-1 in Dimapur won the 1st prize; Chendilla Walling and Atheli V Shohe from Olympic Higher Secondary School from Zunheboto won the 2nd prize, and Avungthung C Shitiri and Shatipong from Perennial Montessori School from Wokha won the 3rd prize.

There were 16 participants from eight schools; two schools from each district viz. Kohima, Dimapur, Wokha and Zunheboto district. PJ Nathan, general secretary of ANPSA-Central told Eastern Mirror that the first and second winners from each districts competed in the State level quiz. He also said “this quiz is based on common textbook that we are following in across the private schools in Nagaland known as fact finder, published by trendsetters”.

He informed that the participants are from class six to eight groups and also the quiz was from the books of class six to eight. “Hopefully, we are planning to take it forward and hope the other districts will also participate in the coming years”, he commented.

In the first phase of the competition there was three rounds and only four schools namely St. Anthony High School Tenyiphe-1 from Dimapur Unit, Olympic Higher Secondary School from Zunheboto Unit, Perennial Montessori School from Wokha Unit and the Vineyard School from Kohima Unit, could make it to the second phase.

There was Audio-Visual round in the second phase and puzzle arrangement in the final phase, after which the final winner was declared.

A cash prize of INR 10000, 8000 and 5000 were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners respectively along with certificates and INR 10000 along with certificates was also given to each participant units.

Ajit John was the quizmaster of the day.
