Dimapur Police has fixed new speed limits for Dimapur and National Highway-29 while banning parking of heavy vehicles along highways.

DIMAPUR — The Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur, has notified new speed limits for key stretches of road in and around Dimapur and Chümoukedima while reiterating a ban on parking of heavy vehicles along national highways.
According to an order issued on June 1, maximum speed limit has been fixed at 50 kmph on the NH-29 stretch between Zion Hospital Junction and Chümoukedima, 30 kmph within Dimapur city limits, and 80 kmph on the NH-29 four-lane bypass from Kushiabill towards Chathe Bridge in Patkai-Seithekema area.
It also directed that no heavy vehicles, trucks or commercial vehicles shall be parked or stopped on national highways except at designated parking bays, lay-bys or wayside amenities.

The notification stated that vehicles stranded due to breakdowns or emergencies must display hazard lights and place reflective warning triangles to alert approaching motorists.
Defaulters will face action under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the order added.
