Special outreach prog on CSS held in Totok

A one-day training programme for frontline workers such as Angawadi workers and helpers, Asha workers, Adhar and community volunteers and a special outreach programme on Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) were jointly organized by the World Vision and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Field Publicity Unit, Mon, at Totok Chingnyu Baptist Church on March 11.
In the introductory speech, CDF WVI, Mon AP, Nockyam Wangnao, briefed that the main objective of the training was to rededicate themselves to serve for the welfare of the community. He appealed to the village leaders and health workers to know their respective duties and responsibility to build a healthy society, adding ‘in order to build a healthy society we require healthy people, and to develop a healthy people we need to nurture healthy children.’
While briefing on various centrally sponsored schemes such as Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao/ Beti Padao, Pradhan Mantri Surakhsa Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and Skill India Mission, the Field Publicity Officer (FPO/DFP), Mathew SK Bengam, said the Directorate of Field Publicity is the mediator and communicator between the Central government and the public. He said the main objective of the Ministry of Field Publicity is to propagate the policies and programmes of various centrally sponsored schemes and programmes at the grass root level and to ensure reaching the targeted beneficiaries by doing away with corruptions.
Stating that the joint programmes of the World Vision, Social Welfare Department, NRHM and Field Publicity was to work for the community development, he urged the participants to disseminate the information to the people back at home. He also distributed T/shirts to all the participants.
Speaking on the duties and functions of the Angawadi workers and helpers, the CDPO, Mon, Tongwang Konyak said Angawadi centre should not be a center of distribution of foodstuffs but be a center of all-round development of a child before schooling. He urged the workers and helpers to develop love, affection and good relationship with every child to cater the needs of the children. Highlighting that ICDS is a community base programme, Tongwang appealed to the village functionaries to ensure proper functioning of Angawadi center for the development of every child in the village and at the same time to report the performance of workers and helpers.
Asserting that teachers and pastors are well informed intellectuals, he said they should play a vital role to educate the villagers and to ensure implementation of all-round development in the village. He urged the functionaries of three Totok villages to make their Angawadi centres a model centre for learning.
Block Programme Officer, NRHM, Hingkai, spoke on the duties and functions of the Asha workers, while the Supervisor, Longshitheong, spoke on maintenance of registers of the Angawadi workers.
Angawadi workers & helpers, Asha workers, Adhar and community volunteers, pastors and other village functionaries attended the training programme.
