Dimapur, Jan. 30 (EMN): A special kisan train has been introduced by the Indian Railways between Tarakeswar in West Bengal to Dimapur to ‘serve the peasants’. The Kisan Rail Special Train will run till July 30, 2021, an update from Northeast Frontier Railway informed.
“As per the announcement made in the Union Budget 2020-21, Indian Railways has started running Kisan Rail train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish. The primary objective of running Kisan Rail trains is to increase the income in farm sector by connecting production centers to markets and consumption centers,” it said.

The train will stop at Bandel, Ambika Kalna, Nabadwip Dham, Purbasthali, Katwa, Azimgunge, Azimgunge city, Malda town, New Jalpaiguri, New Coochbehar, New Bongaingaon, Guwahati and Lumding in both directions for loading/unloading of parcels.
00329 Tarakeswar - Dimapur Kishan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Tarakeswar at 10:00 hrs. every Friday to reach Dimapur the next day. For the return journey, 00330 Dimapur -Tarakeswar Kishan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Dimapur at 21.30 hrs. every Saturday and reach Tarakeswar at 7.10 hrs. on Monday.
The first Kisan Rail train was flagged-off on August 7, 20202 between Devlali (Maharastra) and Danapur (Bihar). “These Kisan Rail trains are run on time-tabled paths, and their punctuality is strictly being monitored to avoid any en-route detentions and delays. These services have been introduced on 18 (eighteen) routes so far,” it added.
Primary commodities being transported via Kisan Rail are onion, tomato, oranges, potato, pomegranate, banana, custard-apple, carrots, capsicum, and other vegetables. A subsidy of 50% is being granted on the transportation of fruits and vegetables via Kisan Rail, it informed.
