Special badminton camp underway at Mokokchung

Mokokchung, June 15 (EMN): A special Badminton Coaching Camp under the mentorship of renowned Badminton coach and former International player Pradip Chaliha from Assam got underway at Multipurpose Sports Complex, on Thursday.imrong
The Coaching camp which will culminate on July 30 is being organized by Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) sponsored by Zükshi Shitsü Yonex Sports. Coach Chaliha will be assisted by Bendangnochet one of the best player in Mokokchung and Temsuyanger Grade ‘B’ National Umpire.
Highlighting about the coaching clinic in a press conference Complex, the president of the MDBA president Toshikaba informed that it first of its kind in Nagaland to bring coach from outside the state to groom the enthusiastic players. The officials also added that the maximum capacity of enrollment is 50 participants with a limit of 15 quota for newcomers; Coaching is for U-15, U-17, U-19 and Senior category. The MDBA officials also said that the objective of the coaching clinic is talent hunt and taking new players as well as mentoring senior players who will be participants in forthcoming Inter Districts Badminton Championship.
Chaliha also expressed that it is his first time to coach budding shuttelars in Nagaland and declared that his only dream to produce National players from Northeast India states to represent India in the international arenas.
Saying that NE cannot produce national and international for some decades, he also asserted that they are lots talented badminton player in Northeast and the only thing is to groom them and for that, it needs help from the associations and support from the parents is needed.
He asserted that to achieve the level of standard, players should have dedication; determination and discipline, besides, associations should also give their time to the players.
Chaliha also said Badminton is the second played sports in India after Cricket and it is sports which can be played throughout the years and added that they are many opportunities and avenues for players who reach state level and above.
The sponsor of the coaching camp, while lauding the MDBA for initiating numerous activities to promote Badminton in the district but lamented that Nagaland cannot produce National players, therefore, this camp was organized to bring a difference to influence the enthusiastic young players.
He also shared his idea that to produce successful player from the state there is a solution if start grooming the under -13 players from their initial age where there might be a breakthrough were players from the state will be representing India in bigger events.
The MDBA officials also informed that simultaneously Mokokchung District Badminton Champion Tournament will organize from June 26-27 at the end of the coaching clinic where players will be selected for the inter-district tourney.
The MDBA president also expressed his hope that with renowned Badminton coach and former International player Like Pradik coming to coach the player more people will influence and spark the enthusiasm of Badminton in the District.
