Sovima Sports Club to organise first ‘Hornbill Sports Festival’
DIMAPUR — Coinciding with the state ‘Hornbill Festival,’ the Sovima Sports Club (SSC) will be organising the first ‘Hornbill Sports Festival 2023’ at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence (RCSE), Chümoukedima, from December 3 to the 6th.
The sporting event will include three disciplines namely, futsal, badminton and table tennis, the SSC informed in an update.
The disciplines are categorically for junior boys and girls below 15 years (U-9/ U-11/ U-13/ U-15), both singles and doubles. The winners will be awarded with trophies and citations along with a total prize money of INR 2 lakh.
Interested players and teams are to register by November 30 by submitting their details along with a passport-size photo and a copy of Aadhar card, during office hours at the Futsal Centre, RCSE.
“The event aims to promote sports and provide a potential platform to the young budding talents of the State and the opportunity to excel in various sporting disciplines at the state-of-the-art facility of the RCSE. The event also aims to create awareness about the positive aspects of sports and provide a platform for the sports enthusiasts and sportspersons to be a part of the state’s biggest event,” the club stated.
Apart from sporting events, the Hornbill Sports Festival will also feature a series of events such as talent shows and other mini-competitions and camps for children.
“The event also targets to generate employment opportunity and income generation for entrepreneurs by giving them space for marketing various festivity products including food stalls,” it added.
