Jamir said asking and getting sovereignty is different. Citing instances of children asking or demanding things from parents, he said it is the case with Nagas. “We are not talking about getting sovereignty but are asking or demanding for it, he added.” The students of Nagaland University had an interaction with Jamir on the topic “Naga political issues and his personal achievements.” On the question asked by students, will he participate in ongoing Naga political agreement between the govt. of India and Naga political groups (NPG) since he being the living legend of the signatories of 16th point agreement, Jamir replied that he will play as secondary and advisory role on the issue. On the question, what was the thing he could not able to achieve during his service, he said Naga sovereignty. On personal achievement question, jamir said dedication, perseverance, and conviction made him a successful man. Talking about discrimination faced by the Nagas and Northeastern people in main land, Jamir said ‘i and the other Nagas in the assembly faced the same. We were called Chinese.’ However, he said it depends on how one live with the people and react to situations. “When you are in Rome, live like a Roman,” he added.
