Players will once again be reprising the role of Aloy and will have to rely on her archery skills a lot to get out of trouble. The Horizon Forbidden West trailer revealed Aloy freeing Erend from the captivity of a hostile human tribe. Erend presents Aloy with a strange artefact as a gift for saving him.
The gameplay showed Aloy coming in contact with machines like the bird machine known as Sunwing, a velociraptor-like machine called a Clawstrider, a huge mammoth-like machine called a Tremortusk and amphibious machines like the Snapmaw and the Burrowers.

Aloy can also be seen using a “Shieldwing,” a new Breath of the Wild-like gliding mechanic in Horizon Forbidden West to help her traverse the treacherous terrain. Aloy can also dive underwater and stay submerged thanks to a new Diving Mask. Players will be able to use other new abilities like “Focus scanner” to highlight free-climbing spots and “Pullcaster” to use a grappling hook.
The trailer revealed Aloy‘s new arsenal including a slingshot that launches adhesive grenades and smoke bombs to conceal herself from her enemies. She can also be seen picking up weapons dropped by hostile machines.
The environment, in particular, stands out in the gameplay footage with beautiful lush green vegetation amidst the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic San Francisco. The game looks stunning in 4K and most players will definitely appreciate the amount of time it may have taken the developers to re-design the game world.
