Soil & Water chief tells dept. to eye identifiable projects
Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): The department of Soil and Water Conservation has held a meeting with its minister V Kashiho Sangtam on Wednesday.
A press release from the department informed that the meeting was conducted to deliberate on the departmental activities and to review the progress of projects and schemes in all the districts implemented during 2017-18.
The district soil conservation officers of all the 11 districts presented their completed and ongoing projects which were substantiated by the photographs.
Various proposals were made by the officers for revival of State Land Use Board, implementation of new projects, strengthening of manpower, renovation and construction of infrastructure, purchase of new machineries and others.
Expressing concern over financial paucity the department has been facing, the minister encouraged the department to propose identifiable and impressive projects which will benefit the public.
Sangtam also suggested that an appropriate mechanism for transfer and posting of the officers equitably in all districts be created.
He remarked that the projects implemented should be sustainable for years even after the completion of its term and encourage the beneficiaries to own and maintain it.
He assured that he will look into the problems faced and called for a well-organised team work to take the department to greater heights.
