Societies undertake road safety advocacy programme

Dimapur, Feb. 6 (EMN): The Vikehie Welfare Society in Viswema village under Kohima district conducted a road safety advocacy programme near Viswema village on National Highway -2.

An update said that youth volunteers from Viswema village distributed road safety pamphlets to 578 vehicle users on the first day.

VWS Viswema chairman Eyosa Kikhi expressed gratitude to the minsitry for selecting VWS to organise the road safety advocacy programme.

It said that he appreciated the transport commissioner, Nagaland and Kohima traffic police personnel for extending support towards the conduct of the programme.

In a related programme, the Charity Welfare Society (CWS) in Khezhakeno under Phek district began its road safety advocacy programme on February 4 along Phek road via Zuketsa-Pfutsero as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

An update from society chairman, EK Koza, stated that distribution of pamphlets began with an invocation prayer said by Pfoza Koza, vice pastor of KCRC (Upper). He stated that a total of 157 vehicles were distributed with road safety pamphlets on the first day.

Koza has also lauded the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for selecting the society to conduct the programme. He also extended gratitude to the ADC Pfutsero for granting the permission as well as the staff of DTO Phek for their presence to monitor the programme and the SDPO Pfutsero for deputing traffic personnel.

Koza further highlighted that the next phase of distributing pamphlets would be held at NEC Pfutsero-Tadubi road, while an essay writing and painting competitions and other activities would be conducted before March 5.
