Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): A group of persons who have completed professional courses in Master in Social Work (MSW) have formed themselves into a organisation called the ‘Nagaland Professional Social Workers’ Association (NPSWA). The association was formed during its first general meeting on October 29 held at Northeast Institute of Social Science Research (NEISSR).
The association envisioned to create a just society and keep human dignity through right ways.
The association also held its second general body meeting on November 12 last at NEISSR campus with a group of senior professionally trained social workers, wherein it discussed on the need of a professionally trained social workers association in the state like in other states and countries.
The association press release issued by its president Itulungbe Ndang stated that social workers in Naga society can be defined in various ways where people selflessly contribute for the common welfare. However, he stated that professionally trained social workers are academically oriented with principles and ethics of social work with scientific approach to various social issues and problems.
He stated that NPSWA is a non- profit association committed to uplift equality through right ways.
The association president, Ndang, and the information secretary, Gabriel Zhimomi, have requested to all the concerned departments particularly health and family welfare, social welfare and others to recognise MSW degree as any other professionals and give equal opportunity like any other academic disciplines in government jobs for a better Nagaland.
