Dimapur, June 15: Survival Nagaland (SN) today made clarion call to all stakeholders, State government, civil societies to seriously ponder on the problem of unabated influx of illegal immigrants and the impending demographic impact it could cause to the indigenous people in future and demanded to detect and deport all illegal immigrants at the earliest.
SN noted that over the years thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants have silently sneaked into the districts and found to be living illegally either as migrants labour, businessman, agricultural workers etc, adding today it has inflicted a deep wound by their presence and drastically affected the demographic of the indigenous people.
“The silent migration process of the illegal immigrants has strangulated almost all the essence of life in every possible sphere and thus has left the indigenous people gasping for survival,” SN said in a statement.Stating that apart from Dimapur district, the rest of the districts in Nagaland fell under ILP Act zone, SN rued the lukewarm response of the State government over the empowerment of ILP Act. It, therefore, appealed to all NGOs, civil societies of every district to become an active pressure agent in demanding strict implementation of any legal Act under the constitution so that the State government woke up from its pretentious slumber.
SN also appealed to all the apex bodies to apprise the GBs and town/ village council chairmen in their respective domain not to issue legal document such as permanent resident certificate (PRC), No Objection Certificate (NOC) etc to any people of suspected origin as these proved to be the most important document for obtaining driving license, EPIC Card, PAN Card, Bank Passbook, Aadhar Card, Government civilian identity card, non -Naga indigenous Inhabitant certificate, beneficiaries of BPL Card or any other subsidies from government scheme/ policy etc.
SN emphasized that as an indigenous citizens, it should be our bounden responsibility to uphold and secured our inherited rights for our generation. It urged every indigenous citizen not to give space to run business or engage them for any manual and domestic work but instead promote work culture among local entrepreneur. It said the culture of inter marriage with the illegal immigrants needed to be discourage at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Survival Nagaland (SN) has lauded the initiative undertaken by the ENPO in regard to Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants (IBIs) issue, saying the resolution adopted in one of its meeting requesting all the Deputy Commissioners under its empowered district to take corrective measures was a sign of positive approach as stakeholders and guardians of its people and the land.
