Shillong, June 18 (PTI): Five persons were arrested after recovery of a smuggled gold biscuit and Rs one lakh from them during an anti-smuggling raid at a house in Meghalaya s East Khasi Hills district, an official said today. "We have arrested five persons and a gold biscuit and cash were seized from them at a house at Shella village yesterday," police said. The seizure was made during a joint operation by the BSF and the state police to nab smugglers at the village, close to the Indo-Bangladesh border, they said. The gold biscuit is valued at about Rs 3.5 lakh, a BSF spokesperson said. Meanwhile, several stretches of the border fences had been washed out in 10 outposts due to flood like situation in at least four districts in the state. Border fences in many low lying areas in the state had also been inundated by the rising water level, he said.
