Sleaze in the bag: Kohima police busts pornography lot

Kohima police have confiscated a substantial number of pornographic movies besides other associated peripherals following a series of raids on movies stories in the state’s capital, Kohima town, on February 13.
A joint team of personnel from the north police station, south police station and the women cell, DIB and mobile units of the district executive force of the district conducted a surprise raid “on stores selling X-rated movies/materials,” the police administration informed on Friday.The authorities have arrested three persons. They have been identifgied as one Jogeswar Barrma, 23 years, Geromari village under Assam, a Vinay Kumar Srivastav, 24 years, of Dhobal Bazaar in Chapra, and one Bapan Malakar, 34 years, of Nagipur village under Karimganj in Assam.
“The three persons were arrested from their shops located at Mohonkhola and old BOC kohima on the charges of selling, distributing and circulating obscene films from their shops,” the police informed.
Three CPUs containing hard disk of the computers, having 7, 763 files of pornographic videos, four monitors and computer peripherals, storage disks and CDs containing pornographic movies were confiscated by the authorities.
“During preliminary investigation, it is ascertained from the three arrested person that, they have been indulging in this business since 2009. They use to purchase the x-rated CDs from one Adim Mao who supplies it to them from Mao-gate at Rs. 18 per CD and it is sold to their customer at Rs. 30 per CD,” the police stated.
“The porn video clips are reportedly downloaded from the internet and sold at Rs. 1 per video clip. On the average they sell more than 100 video clips and 2-5 CDs per day to their customers, who are a mixture of Nagas and non-Nagas.” The accused have been charged with purchasing, selling, and distributing pornographic movies “in an open market.”
