Nagaland: SKK welcomes government notice against proxy teaching
Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): The Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has welcomed the notification issued by the Directorate School of Education to all the heads of schools and district education offices against accommodation of proxy teaching in the school by government appointed teachers.
“Such stern steps have been calling out from different corner of student bodies and organisations about the availing of un-appointed and unqualified teachers taking place in numerous schools,” SKK education statistics secretary, Ngukato L Aye, and the president, Katho P Awomi, stated in a joint statement.
The union felt that those ill activities could nurture a bad fruit in the society and spoil the future of the students. It has appreciated the department for taking the right decision.
“The school is not only for the academic qualification but it is the institution where a child learns to become a good citizen and ascends imminently in the society. That the teacher is the main role, an artist, a leader to efficiently educate and shape up a decent student and endeavour their future,” the statement read.
While reminding that the future of bright students is at their hands, the union has urged all the government teachers to attend to their duty with diligence and sincerity. It also urged the teachers to follow the service rules applied to them.
The union also appreciated those genuine teachers, who are selfless and tirelessly rendering their duty as priority to teach the student. It has wished them good health.
The union has also acknowledged the advisor of School Education, Tokugha Sukhalu, for listening to the cry of the union and organisations by initiating to remove the practice of proxy teaching in the schools. Meanwhile, the union appealed to the department for timely release of the teachers’ salary and provides maximum facilities to ensure their well being.
The union further called upon all its units and sub-units to collaborate with the order and check such malpractices.
