Says neither ST nor indigenous

Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has demanded from the government authority nullification of the result of a person who is said to have cleared the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examinations, but is allegedly not a Naga.

The SKK issued on Thursday a copy of a statement addressed to the chairman of the commission.

‘The All Sumi Students’ Union would like to appraise your respected authority regarding the genuineness of the indigenous inhabitancy (sic) of one Miss Levi Sumi, daughter of Anil, who has been selected in the recently declared result of the NPSC,’ the representation stated.

According to the union, the person is ‘neither an indigenous inhabitant of Kiphire nor does she belongs to any Schedule Tribe of Nagaland.’

However, in the recent result declaration of the NPSC examination for 2018, the person was selected for the post of secretariat assistant, ‘which has defied all the norms and procedure set by the government of Nagaland.’

“If this result is not nullified it will cause injustice to the deserving educated and qualified candidates who are actual indigenous inhabitant of Kiphire, Nagaland and moreover, this will set a bad precedence to our system,” the statement asserted.

‘In line with the above facts and reasons, the SKK makes a fervent request that your esteemed authority take prompt action and immediately nullify the result of Miss Levi Sumi to give an opportunity to the deserving candidates who are indigenous inhabitant of Kiphire and Nagaland,’ the union stated.
