A three-day professional skills development training was held for the team members of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) led by team leader, Khrienuo Metha, from February 3-5 at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur. Training consultant, Talichila Imchen was the resource person for the training which was focused on key features of professionalism, effective communication, team work, time management, problem solving, decision making, SWOT analysis, and individual presentations.
During the training, the facilitator commented that one must appreciate the vision and leadership of the agency, the vibrant and motivated team, the professional ambience and happy interactive members. She also expressed hope that the team would use the learning and continue to give their best, and set a benchmark for a smarter Nagaland.
It may be noted here that the Nagaland Career Development Centre (NCDC), a YouthNet and Smarter Nagaland initiative has conducted several professional skills development trainings in the recent past.
Mention may also be made here that the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency was established in 2005 to undertake bamboo development in Nagaland both as a resource and as an enterprise, and has ever since its inception, been doing pioneering works in the developing of bamboo.
Further, the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre (NBRC), which was converted out of the disused Sugar Mill has now become a location for introduction of new technologies both for propagation and plantation as also new technologies for value addition and processing of bamboo based products.
The facilities, machinery and production lines that have been installed in the NBRC are being fully utilized and the NBRC is also now functioning as an ‘Incubation” center where the entrepreneurs are made to mature in production techniques and marketing their products.
