SJU organises awareness drive on IEI

DIMAPUR — The Civil Engineering department of St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, in association with Institution of Engineers India (IEI) Students Chapter (SJU), organised an awareness drive on March 12 on the theme “Importance of being a member in the Institutions of Engineers.”

Secretary of IEI Nagaland chapter, Imtiwati Jamir, was the resource person of the event, stated an update from the university.

Jamir, in his sharing, provided a comprehensive overview about the importance of being a member of the Institution of Engineers, the key advantages of joining the IEI and the role it plays in promoting excellence, professional growth and community engagement within the engineering fraternity. He added that membership in the IEI lends professional credibility and recognition to engineers.

Being associated with a reputable institution reflects a commitment to ethical standards and high-quality engineering practices, he said.

He mentioned that IEI provides a valuable network for engineers to connect with peers, mentors and industry leaders. He added that networking events, conferences and seminars organised by the IEI facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among professionals.

Jamir also stated that access to workshops, training programmes and conferences help members stay updated on the latest advancements in their respective fields. He informed that members could also gain access to a wealth of technical publications, journals and research papers.

The resource person went on to state that the IEI also supports members in advancing their careers through skill development, mentorship programmes while also assisting members in exploring new opportunities and advocating the interests of engineers at national and international levels.

“The IEI not only offers tangible benefits such as networking, learning and career advancement but also plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the engineering profession,” he added.

Imliangla Lemtur delivered the welcome address in the programme chaired by Pika G Awomi, while Ketholeno proposed the vote of thanks. The webinar was attended by about 100 students, faculty and staff of the Civil Engineering department of SJU.
