SJU hosts ‘Tekne Fest’ to celebrate technology and innovation
DIMAPUR — With an aim to celebrate technology and innovation, the Computer Science department of St. Joseph University (SJU) hosted a two-day ‘Tekne Fest 2024’ on September 19 and 20.
An update from the university stated that the controller of examination, Dr. S Thiyagarajan, shared insights into the world of debugging in computer programming and online gaming, emphasising their interconnectedness and the essential logic required for both fields at the inaugural programme.
He highlighted the importance of developing skills in those areas as they are critical to students’ future success.
The registrar of the university, Dr. A Robert Xavier, underscored the value of such events in nurturing creativity and collaboration among students, while the vice chancellor, Dr. Gnanadurai, urged participants to dedicate 3 to 4 hours each day to programming practice, advocating for practical engagement over theoretical study. He also pointed out the need for students to sharpen their logical thinking as the field evolves, particularly in light of advancements in artificial intelligence.
The second day of Tekne Fest kicked off with a painting competition on the theme “Art meets technology,” celebrating the fusion of creativity and innovation.
Other events included meme making, video making, typing tests, arm wrestling and exhibition of static models.
The fest concluded with a valedictory programme where prizes were given away to the winners.
