DIMAPUR — The School of Social Sciences at St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, held a five-day faculty development programme (FDP) from September 17 to the 23rd focussing on “Psychological skills and digital humanities for teaching and learning”.

The FDP, conducted online, featured Dr. Elizabeth Thomas, associate professor at the School of Psychological Sciences, Christ University, Bangalore, during the first two days of the programme, according to an update.

Dr. Thomas emphasised the multifaceted nature of teaching and learning, highlighting the cognitive, emotional, and social factors that significantly impact student engagement and information retention.

She highlighted the importance of creating a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to diverse learning styles.

The final three days saw Dr. N Rohinkanta Singh, assistant professor, department of Mass Communication at Manipur University, leading discussions on digital humanities.

Dr. Singh explored the transformative potential of digital tools in education, discussing how resources such as digitised archives and virtual exhibitions create immersive learning experiences.
