SJU conducts entrepreneurship awareness programme

Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): Economics department of St. Joseph University (SJU) and the ministry of MSME Dimapur branch jointly organised a one-day “Entrepreneurship awareness programme” at the university campus on February 15.

An update from the university stated that the programme was formally inaugurated by Tali Longchar, joint director of MSME-DI, Dimapur, and briefly introduced about MSME schemes and their importance for the students and youth of Nagaland.

The main objective of the entrepreneurship awareness programme was to create awareness among students in various facets of entrepreneurship as an alternative career option. The idea of organising the workshop was to inculcate the key concept of entrepreneurship and to guide the students regarding various schemes available for students and unemployed youth which could be used for self-employment.

In the first session, S Rarenbenla Longkumer, functional manager of DIC Dimapur, spoke on the role of DIC for self-employment through PMEGP scheme in Nagaland. She highlighted the provision of loan schemes and the mode of selecting the candidates. She also discussed the documents required for PMEGP application and how it is advertised through newspapers.

TS John Monsang, chief manager of SBI-Lead Bank, Dimapur, spoke on the procedures of bank loans/credit cash flow to new entrepreneurs for setting up MSME enterprises in Nagaland. He explained various MSME loans schemes such as PMMY, Startup India, PMEGP etc.

In the second session, Alobo Naga, Ban executive member and a successful entrepreneur, spoke about the prospects for starting a new enterprise and motivated the participants by narrating his success story. He advised the participants to think big and start small by stating that no job is too small and that there are no shortcuts to success in life.

A Selwin Samraj, assistant director of MSME-DI, Dimapur, spoke on Udyam Registration and GeM, which is beneficial for new entrepreneurs. He explained how to register online and the benefits of Udyam registration.
