Dimapur, Nov. 3 (EMN): St. John’s High School Diphupar ‘B’ celebrated ‘John’s Fiesta’-- its cultural fest-cum-talent show -- at the school premises on November 1 and the 2
nd on the theme ‘Uphold our cultural and traditional values.”
An update from the school stated that the two-day programme witnessed presentation of various cultural items by the students. It stated that a traditional dance was performed by the girl students of Class X at the opening ceremony.
On the first day, all the students and teachers came in their colourful traditional attire. It added that students from Classes III to X along with teachers undertook a cultural procession covering a distance of around 1 ½ km in Diphupar B village.
There was competition for Mr and Miss LKG and UKG in which Lilan, Neilu, Ekochan and Mhabeni were declared winners. Sunil Bahadur and Imnasenla Longkumer from Class X won the Mr and Miss Saint John’s titles respectively.
The events of the two-day programme included scripture recitation, dazzling dances, mellifluous music, beat boxing, extempore speech, drawing and poster making, solo, traditional and fancy dress followed by amazing performances from the tiny tots of St. John’s nursery students.
A debate competition was also held on the topic “Is education necessary for the parents in moulding a child into a responsible individual” which was participated by students of Classes IX and X.
The school headmaster, Johnny Abraham, expressed on the need to preserve the composite and ethnically rich culture and tradition which the forefathers had taken ages to form. He further lauded the students and teachers for making the event a success.
