SJC (A) NCC organises awareness programme at Kezo Basa village

DIMAPUR — St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama NCC senior wing under 1 Nagaland Girls’ Battalion visited its adopted village, Kezo Basa village, and conducted an awareness programme on April 30.

The programme was held at its Village Council Hall as an act of social service and community development of NCC. The team comprising 12 cadets, one associate NCC officer and one PI staff, also met Col. Manjeet Katoch, CO, 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC, Kohima.

The programme started with an invocation by SGT Nosezonu Lothu followed by an address by Katoch. 

The awareness talk on government schemes for rural areas was delivered by JUO Visakhono Yakhro; health and hygiene by SGT Kevekhulu Thisa and environmental protection by CDT Ambikali Mech.

The programme was chaired by CPL Rekuyiheule I Mbung and it concluded with a note of gratitude expressed by Punisa Naki, Gaon Bura, Kezo Basa and Capt. Regina Razousinuo, ANO, SJC. 

Savi Thami, President of Kezo Basa Women Society, four village council members and 30 residents attended the programme.

The team distributed application forms of government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana to the villagers and also contributed 150 self-made bags to the village for use as marketing bag/lunch bag when they go to fields. The bags were made from waste materials such as used flexes, sacks, clothes and plastic waste.
