DIMAPUR — The State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) organised a training programme on the ‘People’s Plan’ campaign with a focus on preparing Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP) for 2024-25.

According to a DIPR report, the event was held on January 27 at VDB Hall in Wokha and drew participants from seven blocks: Wokha, Wuzhuro, Bhandari, Changpang, Sanis, Chukitong, and Ralan.

The programme’s primary goal was to improve the effectiveness of GPDP implementation and facilitate discussions about village and block development plans. The nodal officer for Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) at SIRD, Dr. Juthusuthio Phoji, provided insights on the occasion into the introduction of the training, the People’s Plan campaign, and GPDP.

Phoji stated that GPDP was first introduced in 2018, was revamped in 2023, and is scheduled to conclude in 2026. He also stated that the training covered the revamped GPDP as well as the roles and responsibilities of village functionaries. Various issues concerning the better functioning of villages and blocks were also addressed.

Dr. Rokosuno Kintso, senior lecturer at SIRD, led a session on thematic GPDP, discussing the roles of facilitators and line departments in its implementation. The session also addressed critical development issues, such as community needs and priorities.

Notably, the programme featured activities such as data porting into the GPDP and using eGramSwaraj portals.
