Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): District Task Force on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Mahila Shukti Kendra, Longleng, conducted a singing and drama competition for 12 wards at Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC) on the theme “You are powerful, beautiful, brilliant and brave and little girls with dreams become women with vision.”
The programme was witnessed by the deputy commissioner of Longleng, John Tsulise Santam. The DC, while speaking at the programme, encouraged the girl child to excel and shine in their own ways and make the society a better place through their participation.
CDPO Longleng and Nodal officer BBBP, Tauhong Phom, highlighted on the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, while a special prayer for girl child was pronounced by Rev. Beau, pastor of LTBC.
Ngenching ward was adjudged the winner in the singing category, while Oushok Baptist Church bagged the winning prize in the drama category. The prize winning song would be recorded and use as the theme song of BBBP Longleng and the drama winner would be used to organise street play.
Meanwhile as part of the programme, students of GHSS, Longleng, also conducted street play at various junctions in Longleng town on September 29. The purpose of the street play was to create awareness about the importance of girl child and women in the modern society.
