The grand finale to the competition for the best folk music and composer drew to close in a closely-competed affair on Friday, September 23, at the conference hall of Mind Blowers’ Club in Dimapur.
Lily Kithan featuring Rhumbeni Odyuo and Hayithung was declared the winner in the Song Composer category. Onentoshi Jamir was declared the winner of Best folk song category.
In the title category, the Most Promising Artist Award was bagged by Samuel Chishi while the one for Best Performer (folk song) was bagged by the Salumo group. The competition was judged by Bendangyanger Jamir (for folk song) and Jongshimanen Jamir (for music composition). Abigail Odyuo hosted the event.
The competition was organised by Mind Blowers’ Club with the theme ‘Integration of folklores and the physics of sound.’ The platform sought to offer focus to ‘impart cultural knowledge, sense of unity, strength and connection among our diverse culture by bringing back the dying art and culture of the Naga.’
The competition also sought to encourage people to relive native arts besides to give platform to raw talent, to promote diverse cultures, toward a healthy community.
